Who is eligible? Anyone with a private well within Dunn County What is the purpose of this project? To collect general data about the groundwater quality in Dunn County and establish trends for this resource across the county as a whole. What sampling will be done? This will cover the Comprehensive Homeowners Package through UW-Stevens Point Water & Environmental Analysis Lab. This test includes nitrates, hardness, several metals, a screen for atrazine and related herbicides, and several other water chemistry parameters How will my well sample data be used? All data will be stored in aggregate form with the only publicly accessible resources being the final report for this project, and the Dunn County Well Water Quality Map is available on the Dunn County Website or at https://bit.ly/3dyjyeC. Neither of these will identify participants or individual well tests, but instead show general trends down to the section level of detail. What happens if my well tests high for any of the tested compounds? Dunn County may offer to do repeat testing as funding allows and offer educational resources. Dunn County cannot mandate or fund private water treatment systems on or the replacement of any wells that have high test results through this program. How much will this cost? This will come at no cost to the individuals who participate. LWCD staff will come to your property, collect the sample, and ship it to the lab for analysis.
