You may have heard that effective January 1st, 2021 Dunn County will no longer be operating the transfer stations in Connorsville and Boyceville. In fact, the Solid Waste division of Dunn County has become insoluble and will be dissolved at the end of this year. This has left every village and township scrambling to provide recycling and solid waste disposal services for its community.
The Dunn County board had already passed a resolution for a referendum to be placed on the November 2020 ballot before the decision was made to dissolve the solid waste department. The referendum is to exceed the levy limit, and taxpayers would pay back $1 million dollars per year for five years for the County Solid Waste and Recycling Program which will end on December 31, 2020. (Even though this program is ending, the referendum question remains on the November 3rd ballot.) On September 25, 2020 the Town of New Haven, Town of Sheridan, and Town of Tiffany entered into an intergovernmental agreement to share the cost of recycling using a per capita calculation. The Town of New Haven has contracted with Waterman’s Recycling and Sanitation from Amery to provide a container for mandated recyclables starting in January 2021. Beginning in 2021, the Connorsville Collection Site (E1285 1256th Street in Connorsville) will be a drop-off location for recyclables only, NO solid waste (garbage) services will be offered. Therefore, residents will need to seek solid waste services for themselves. The site will be available for recyclables on the first Saturday of the month, after the first Friday of the month, through Thursday of the following week. This offers 6 consecutive days each month for residents to drop off recyclables. The site will be available at any time during those days; however, no lighting is available in the site. Since at least 75% of residents in Tiffany Township already contract with a private company to have their solid waste picked up, it seems best at the present to have everyone contract with a provider for curbside pickup rather than trying to keep the transfer sites open. The following is a list of service providers in our area. Advance Disposal 715 830-0284 Eau Claire Waste Management 855 292-6029 River Falls Waterman's Disposal 715-268-6471 Amery For things like tires, mattresses, and electronics the closest site would be the Waterman's facility at 663 85th St. just east of Amery. It is unfortunate that the county infrastructure could not be maintained and was no longer viable. We expect that a private contractor will purchase the facility in Menomonie and will be providing services in the near future. In the meantime, let's all work together to keep our community beautiful. Again, please note that only some County collection sites remain open through the end of this calendar year. We encourage the use of recycling of any non-mandated items at the county sites prior to closing. Thank you, Chuck Siler, Lee Kegan, Steve Boyd -- Tiffany Town Board

It would be really great if the schedule for the Recycling Center in Connersville was posted for the year! For example which days each month it will be open. Maybe it is posted somewhere but I can't find it.
